Welcome to the NFH Sommerecke!
Nestled in the heart of the forest, in an idyllic, secluded spot at an altitude of 777 metres, the Sommerecke offers unobstructed views stretching as far as the Vosges mountains. Surrounded by forests with moss-covered ground, clearings and meadows, it is a true natural idyll. The air is clear, the nights are dark, and the sound of engines rarely reaches this spot. The sounds of nature – the birds and other animals – are all the more distinct, and the silence is audible.

We receive many booking enquiries, so here is some information about what our house is suitable for:
Our house is ideally suited, above all, for groups and seminars of 15–40 people (in summer, up to 30 additional people on the tent field) for stays of 2–8 days. We give priority to enquiries relating to exercise, dance, music, nature experiences and conservation, bodywork, mindfulness, the ecovillage movement and the ‘Naturfreunde’, but we also welcome school groups, families and groups of friends, weddings, etc.
We operate a strictly non-smoking policy, take a responsible approach to alcohol, and do not allow pets inside the house. We are happy to cater for guests at booked events, and our cooking is vegetarian, nutritious, creative and, wherever possible, uses organic, regional produce. Self-catering is possible, but our kitchen is not easily accessible; it is more suitable for larger groups with a cook.
As we are not a pub or restaurant, we are less suited to weddings and other family celebrations; pets are welcome on our outdoor grounds (and can stay overnight with you in the camper), but not inside the house. If these points do not bother you and vegetarian food is your preference, you are also welcome to hold celebrations here, especially if they can take place during the week.
During the week, we are also open to company outings or day seminars for your office team, your training class or other groups, and are suitable as a venue.
Hiking Lodge
We are happy to welcome you and have accommodation reserved for hikers or cyclists who wish to stay the night with us and, if desired, enjoy a meal. One room with a kitchenette, suitable for 3–4 people, is also available for last-minute bookings; however, we always recommend booking in advance due to our group bookings, or if there are more than 3–4 of you.
Bookings for individuals and families can be made from four weeks prior to arrival.
The House and Grounds
The house has 8–9 double rooms, 3–4 family rooms (3–4 beds), and 2 larger shared rooms (6–8 beds); some of the bathrooms, showers and toilets are located in the corridors. Six rooms have en-suite bathrooms. There is a large guest room with space for up to 50 people. A beautiful, light-filled seminar/dance room of 85 m² can also be booked separately, and there is a second group room of 35 m². Outside, there is a large west-facing terrace with views of the Vosges mountains.
For children, there is a woodland play area with a slide, climbing frame, sandpit and table tennis table. During the summer months, the camping meadow is also available, featuring a fire pit and space for 30 people; 5–6 campervans or minibuses can also be accommodated at any time.

Miscellaneous
The visitor’s tax is €1.70 per person per night, €0.50 per person for training courses; children up to and including 15 years of age are exempt from the visitor’s tax. Nature Friends members receive a 15–20% discount on accommodation rates. Rooms must be left clean and tidy. There is no charge for final cleaning – unless the room is heavily soiled.
Please bring your own bed linen and towels. You can also hire these from us for a one-off fee of €8.00 per set (1 fitted sheet, 1 pillowcase, 1 duvet cover and 1 towel).
