Purpose and Objectives of the Dancers’ Village Initiative

Our initiative was founded by a group of people who wish to create a new model and a new standard of community life. We have named our vision ‘Tänzerdorf’ (and in German we use ‘Tänzerdorf’ and ‘Tänzer:innendorf’ interchangeably), or ‘Dancers’ Village’ in English.
The non-profit association can help establish the place of encounter (not a private residential area), as well as carry out all the activities that we consider essential in such a future space.

Current purpose of the association.

The precise and definitive purpose of the association is as follows:

” §2 Purpose of the Association

(1) The statutory purpose

The purpose of the association is

    1. the promotion of international understanding, of tolerance in all areas of culture, and of the idea of international reconciliation,
    2. the promotion of art and culture through the practice and cultivation of Contact Improvisation
    3. the promotion of nature conservation and landscape management in accordance with the Federal Nature Conservation Act and the nature conservation laws of the federal states, as well as environmental protection,

These three purposes form the core of the association’s work and are realised through the specific measures described in (2).

(2) Specific measures to actively promote these objectives

To promote an international understanding, of tolerance in all areas of culture, and of the idea of international reconciliation, the association shall adopt, promote, support and implement the following appropriate measures:

    • Organising training courses and information events on international understanding and the idea of international reconciliation, with guest lecturers from the fields of international peace and healing work
    • Demonstrating the promotion of tolerance and providing training on the subject of tolerance, for example covering topics such as non-violent communication, systemic consensus-building, and other topics relevant to tolerance.
    • Organising Contact Improvisation as an experiential activity that promotes tolerance by enabling participants to experience non-verbal communication, establishing contact and forming trusting bonds beyond linguistic concepts
    • Promotion and establishment of a place of encounter to foster an international understanding, tolerance in all areas of culture and the idea of international reconciliation.
    • Further appropriate measures to foster an international understanding, tolerance in all areas of culture and the idea of international reconciliation (possible examples: online events for this purpose, discussion forums or lectures.)

To promote art and culture, the association will take, promote, support and implement the following appropriate measures:

    • Organising so-called ‘jams’ of Contact Improvisation to promote Contact Improvisation as an art form and as a culture of togetherne
    • Other appropriate measures to promote art and culture (possible example: an online event for this purpose, where everyone dances at home.)

In order to promote nature conservation and landscape management in accordance with the Federal Nature Conservation Act, the nature conservation laws of the federal states, and environmental protection, the association shall adopt, promote, support and implement the following appropriate measures:

    • the establishment of nature conservation and landscape protection areas around biotopes and habitats worthy of protection, including those of rare and endangered animal species
    • active landscape conservation measures to connect the habitats of rare and endangered animal and plant species
    • afforestation and other suitable measures for natural soil conservation
    • other suitable measures for the protection of nature and the environment (possible example: installation of information boards and awareness-raising campaigns.)

In all its activities and committees, the association adheres to the fundamental principle of the dignity and equality of every individual. Any denigration of an individual or a group of people will not be tolerated, but will be identified and addressed; this includes, but is not limited to, sexist or racist behaviour or statements.

(3) Non-profit status
The association pursues exclusively and directly non-profit objectives within the meaning of the section entitled ‘Tax-privileged purposes’ of the German Fiscal Code (Sections 51 et seq.) in its currently applicable version.

(4) Scope of the Association’s Activities
The Association operates only within the European Union, the EFTA states and the United Kingdom; under no circumstances does it operate outside these countries. In the case of projects outside Germany, it is assessed whether this is legally and organisationally feasible for the Association, or whether it would be more advantageous to endeavour to establish an association in the respective country.”
